Flintroom and Ovation
Ovation is a desktop and VR rehearsal room with AI avatars that ask real follow-up questions and push back as hard as you tell them to. It judges what you said from the transcript. Flintroom judges it against your deck.
What Ovation does well
Its avatars "can listen, react, ask follow-up questions, challenge your ideas", and you set their mood, tone and level of pushback before you start.
You can seat several at once to simulate investor panels, mock interviews or thesis defences, and the questions follow from what you just said.
It imports PowerPoint, PDF and Word files onto virtual screens, notecards and teleprompters, and its interview scenario builds questions from an uploaded resume and job description.
Its AI coach goes past delivery, advising on "how well you supported the conclusions in your speech", with more than thirty scoring factors including persuasiveness, structure and clarity.
The individual plan is listed at $15 a month billed annually with a seven-day trial, which is the cheapest serious option in this comparison.
Where Flintroom is different
Ovation states its own boundary: the feedback model is given "the speaker’s words and analytics", and its authoring guidance says Ovation "evaluates only the spoken words (transcript)". An imported deck is converted to images for display, so the panel questions what you said rather than what your slide says.
Practice runs in an installed Windows or Mac application, or on a Meta Quest headset. No phone app is listed on their site. Flintroom runs on the phone already on your desk.
Ovation sells mainly to universities and institutional training programmes, organised by academic department. Flintroom is for one person with one argument to defend.
Which one to pick
You want VR, you are running a course or a cohort, or you want to script the persona yourself and decide exactly how hostile the room is.
Go to OvationYou want the room to find the hostile question by itself, out of the deck you attached, rather than you writing the prompt that asks it.

Flintroom is open on Android.
It is a rehearsal room where a panel of AI interrogators presses on your argument out loud, quotes your own deck back at you, and does not accept the first answer. Your first room is free. On iPhone soon.

- Yoodli Yoodli is a well-funded roleplay platform built for sales and enablement teams, and it is good at that. Flintroom does one narrower thing: it cross-examines you against the deck you attached.
- Orai Orai is a mature mobile speaking coach that scores how you sound. Flintroom is not a second opinion on your delivery: it argues with what you said.
- VirtualSpeech VirtualSpeech is the closest thing to Flintroom that exists today, and it is a serious enterprise platform with ten years behind it. The honest difference is narrow: their panel questions you on what you said, ours also checks it against the deck you attached.
- Microsoft Speaker Coach Speaker Coach is free, it is already inside the deck, and it is good at what it does. It does look at your slide text, for one purpose: telling you when you are reading it out.
